Jewish community Chabad Lubavitch Moldova

This year, large signs advertising readings of the Ten Commandments on the festival of Shavuot in Kishinev’s Great Synagogue were posted alongside invitations to the Jewish community at large to attend, with the times of services.

Large crowds of local Jews and tourists attended the readings and services, listening to the Torah and remembering their loved ones during the Yizkor prayer on the second day of the festival. They also attended the communal meals that were served after the prayers had finished. This included the traditional dairy meal that is consumed on Shavuot.

During the meals, shliach and Chief Rabbi Zalman Abelsky spoke about the meaning and significance of Shavuot and what it means to accept the Torah with joy and the need to strengthen our Torah observance and get ready to greet Moshiach.
